A cute little restaurant with a real Bergisch waitress. And when you know how to take her, you find that she is incredibly nice and funny. Everything I've eaten there so far has been really tasty and the prices are reasonable in my opinion. It's not cheap, but you can pay a little more for good food. Only the price for the waffles is maybe a bit too expensive :) In summer you can sit on the large terrace and enjoy the sun ... We would love to come back.

Very pleasant, good atmosphere, just great

We celebrated our wedding on 08/08/2020 in the old mountain railway. We are completely thrilled, both by the quality of the food, the coordination, the flexibility, the friendliness and competence of the staff and the overall atmosphere in the restaurant. We were given a piece of the terrace, so we had our own area for the celebration. It was beautifully decorated according to our ideas and a pleasant atmosphere was created for our wedding. A big thank you to the boss and his team, we felt very comfortable and can only recommend the old mountain railway.

Very delicious food and a nice atmosphere on the terrace. We ate pork medallions and a fillet steak. There is a star deduction for longer waiting times and the portions, which can be a little larger at these high prices.

You want to play in a league that you don't belong in. Sitting outside is great. But price-performance ratio is unfortunately not right in my opinion!

Well-kept restaurant in Mediterranean style, friendly and attentive service and delicious dishes, especially the salads are huge, a lot of caution regarding Corona, I felt comfortable there and safe - gladly again!

We celebrated our 55-year high school graduation there and were very satisfied with the atmosphere, the food and drinks and also the service. Gladly again!

Earlier and today ...... that has to be much better ....... has nothing in common with the old owner and his COOK / KITCHEN / SERVICE.

Tasty food friendly atmosphere

The Zur Alten Bergbahn restaurant is housed in the former mountain station of the former Barmer Bergbahn cable car. The restaurant has its own parking lot, which guests can use free of charge. In good weather, the restaurant offers an outdoor area. The interior is rustic designed in blue white colors. It seems a bit like a fish restaurant on the North Sea. But the visitor should not be fooled by that. There is a lot offered. From fish to steaks to salads. Of course, there are also desserts. On children the restaurant is also furnished. There is a children's menu and a big teddy bear keeps up with the meal. There is also a coloring book and as a farewell there were still small gifts in the form of jigsaw and ball. Special thanks for that. The food is very delicious and I enjoyed it to the fullest. Had Wiener schnitzel from the veal. We will definitely come back.

I went here twice with family while visiting Germany last week, and both times were fantastic. This was largely due to the fact that our server, Michelle, was INCREDIBLE! She was one of the best servers we've had anywhere, but especially in Germany. Servers in Germany aren't as tip driven as in America, so the service often isn't as good. Michelle was like a 5 star restaurant server! She was on top of our orders from the beginning, always friendly and joking, and made sure our glasses were always full. Everything was served on time, and she always made sure we had everything we could possibly want. The food was also delicious with my favorite thing being the Parmesan Chili soup. This might be my favorite soup in the world, it's really that good. If you love cheese and you love spicy, this is for you. With great service and great food, we will definitely be back the next time we're visiting family!
